Cameco Releases 2025 Sustainability Report

Cameco Corporation released its 2025 Sustainability Report, detailing the company's progress on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives and key performance indicators. The report highlights material advancements in climate adaptation planning, local economic procurement, workplace safety, Indigenous workforce representation, and community philanthropy. Sustainability reporting aligns with SASB performance indicators and TCFD recommendations, with third-party limited assurance obtained on selected metrics.
The company developed nine site-specific climate adaptation plans and procured $292 million from northern-owned companies. Cameco achieved a greater than 20% reduction in combined Total Recordable Injury Rate (TRIR) since 2023. At northern Saskatchewan operations, 49% of the workforce self-identified as Indigenous. Additionally, the company donated more than $1 million to charities through its employee giving campaign.
The reporting framework, which previously relied on GRI Standards prior to 2020, includes unique company-specific KPIs alongside SASB and TCFD metrics. The board of directors and executive team oversee sustainability strategy, execution, and reporting.
CEO Tim Gitzel stated, “As I reflect on the past year, I see our commitment to operating sustainably and with integrity embedded in everything we do. It’s evident in how we manage our environmental impacts, in the way we treat our people, and in how we invest in communities and people to build local capacity.”
