Manganese X Energy Provides Battery Hill High-Purity Manganese Sample for NRC-Led POSCO LMR Cathode Research Project
Manganese X advances Battery Hill feedstock validation through a research and development partnership with NRC-POSCO for manganese cathode production.

Manganese X Energy Corp. has entered a collaborative research agreement with the National Research Council of Canada (NRC), E3 Lithium Ltd., NiVolt Technologies Inc., and POSCO America Corporation. The initiative focuses on developing and demonstrating lithium-manganese-rich (LMR) cathode materials using Canadian critical-mineral feedstocks. Under the agreement, the NRC will integrate Canadian manganese, lithium, and nickel to produce precursor cathode active material (pCAM), cathode active material (CAM), and coin cells for technical verification.
Manganese X is supplying 10 kilograms of high-purity manganese sulfate monohydrate (HPMSM) derived from its Battery Hill project and contributing approximately CA$116,325 to the total project budget of CA$632,111. The company retains its proprietary HPMSM beneficiation and processing flowsheet as background intellectual property. The agreement was executed on August 18, 2026, with completion scheduled for March 31, 2027.
This announcement follows the June 2026 advancement of Battery Hill material into Phase 3, the final stage, of Charge CCCV LLC's (C4V) battery qualification program, which demonstrated 70% capacity retention after 4,600 cycles. The NRC-POSCO project represents a parallel, multi-stakeholder validation pathway for next-generation battery chemistries.
Manganese X Energy Corp. (MN) has entered into a partnership that supports its strategy to position Battery Hill as a secure, North American feedstock supplier for next-generation EV and energy storage batteries. The collaboration involves LMR cathodes, which utilize higher manganese proportions, making the feedstock validation relevant to the company's long-term commercialization strategy.
The company contributed CA$116,325 to the initiative, a figure described as immaterial relative to its cash position and operating burn rate. The announcement aligns with Manganese X’s stated roadmap of continuous metallurgical optimization and third-party battery testing. It does not introduce new financial guidance, production timelines, or offtake commitments.
Successful technical verification by POSCO and the National Research Council Canada (NRC) could de-risk the Battery Hill project for future strategic partnerships or offtake discussions with battery manufacturers. The work is scheduled to be completed by March 2027, placing the next material update in the medium term.
Manganese X Energy Corp. is a Canadian critical minerals company focused on developing the Battery Hill High-Purity Manganese Project. The flagship asset, Battery Hill, is located near Woodstock, New Brunswick, Canada. The property covers 1,225 hectares across 54 claims and is positioned as one of North America's largest manganese carbonate deposits.
The company has initiated a Pre-Feasibility Study (PFS) in December 2025, targeting completion in Q4 2026. A Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) has been completed, projecting a 47-year mine life, $486 million net present value at a 10% discount rate, 25% internal rate of return, and $350 million in capital expenditure.
Manganese X employs a proprietary purification process for producing 99.95% purity high-purity manganese sulfate monohydrate (HPMSM) directly from ore, bypassing the traditional Electrolytic Manganese Metal (EMM) process. Patents have been granted in the U.S. and South Africa, with applications pending in Canada, Mexico, and Australia.
The company is targeting EV battery cathodes, including NMC, LMFP, and LMR chemistries, as well as stationary energy storage. Manganese X is actively pursuing battery qualification with Charge CCCV LLC (C4V) and participating in multi-stakeholder R&D programs.
