Buffalo Potash Signs Royalty Agreement with Altius Minerals
Altius secures its first development-stage potash royalty, providing non-dilutive funding to advance the IPM project to Q1 2027.

Buffalo Potash Corporation has entered a binding letter of intent to grant Altius Minerals Corporation (ALS) a 1.0% gross overriding royalty on its Disley West property. In exchange, Altius will receive C$8.5 million in non-dilutive funding, structured in two tranches: C$3.4 million on closing and C$5.1 million upon satisfaction of brine circulation technical conditions. The agreement also includes a right of first offer (ROFO) on the adjacent Disley East property.
This transaction marks Altius’s first royalty on a development-stage potash project. The funding advances the Initial Production Module (IPM), which targets first production in Q1 2027 with a designed capacity of 125,000 tonnes of soluble-grade potash. Total Altius investment in Buffalo Potash will reach C$11.5 million upon closing both tranches, building on a prior C$3 million private placement and a 0.16% royalty on the Odessa Project.
Altius Minerals Corporation (ALS) completed a transaction that aligns with its counter-cyclical project generation and royalty acquisition mandate. The deal is financially immaterial relative to the company’s balance sheet, which holds C$143.5 million in cash and a C$350 million credit facility. The transaction does not alter near-term cash flow profiles or dividend policy.
