Thor Explorations Announces Q3 2026 Operating Update

Thor Explorations cut guidance by 11% as Segilola grades slump to 2.10 g/t, putting the AISC range at risk.

Executive Summary

Thor Explorations Ltd. (THX) released its third-quarter 2026 interim operating update for the Segilola Gold Mine in Nigeria, alongside exploration activities across Nigeria, Senegal, and Côte d'Ivoire, covering the three months ended September 30, 2026. The company reported gold production of 15,515 oz, a 19% decline from the 19,153 oz produced in the second quarter of 2026 and a 31% drop compared to the 22,617 oz mined in the same period last year.

During the quarter, Thor sold 19,000 oz of gold at a realized price of US$4,297/oz, generating revenue of US$81.7 million. Milling operations processed 249,607 tonnes at a grade of 2.10 g/t Au with a recovery rate of 92.8%. Total mining activity reached 567,059 tonnes, including 303,602 tonnes of ore grading 1.69 g/t that yielded 16,523 oz. This mining rate represents a significant slowdown, falling to roughly half of the 1.13 million tonnes processed in the second quarter.

Inventory levels shifted during the period, with the ore stockpile decreasing by 108 oz to 58,322 oz at 0.72 g/t. Gold in circuit increased by 23 oz to 2,509 oz, while doré inventory stood at 3,740 oz.

The company revised its full-year 2026 production guidance downward to 70,000–72,000 oz, reduced from the previous range of 75,000–85,000 oz. All-in sustaining cost (AISC) guidance remains unchanged at US$1,000–1,200/oz. Thor maintained its dividend at C$0.0125 per quarter, with the ex-dividend and record date set for October 23, 2026, and payment scheduled for November 13, 2026.

Exploration efforts continued at Segilola with underground drilling, while at the Douta project, infill drilling targeted Makosa North, Makosa East, and Baraka 3, alongside Bousankhoba RC drilling. Drilling also proceeded at Guitry and Marahui. The company noted that the Douta Mining Convention is in its "final stages," though no specific date was provided.

Thor’s balance sheet showed cash holdings of US$224.9 million, with a discrepancy in the source text noting US$224.6 million. Including 2,825 oz of bullion, the adjusted net cash position was reported as US$236.7 million, with the source text also citing US$236.4 million.

Material Impact

Thor Explorations Ltd. (THX) issued a formal guidance cut, reducing its FY2026 production forecast for the second half following four consecutive reaffirmations. Production has now declined for three consecutive quarters, falling from 20,256 oz to 19,153 oz, and then to 15,515 oz. Concurrently, milled grade has degraded sharply, dropping from 3.31 g/t in Q4 2025 to 3.11 g/t in Q3 2025, 2.54 g/t in Q1 2026, 2.57 g/t in Q2 2026, and 2.10 g/t in Q3 2026. This represents a 37% decline in processed grade over three quarters.

Revenue of US$81.7M appears strong compared to Q2’s US$77.6M, but this increase is attributed to inventory drawdowns rather than underlying output. The company sold 19,000 oz against 15,515 oz poured, reducing doré inventory from 5,571 oz to 3,740 oz. Additionally, the realized price fell 5.6%, dropping from US$4,554 to US$4,297 per oz.

Mitigating factors include maintained AISC guidance, a held dividend, and growth in adjusted net cash from US$218.6M to US$236.7M. The revised guidance range requires approximately 15,100–17,100 oz in Q4 to be met, which is achievable at Q3-like production rates. The market had previously de-rated the stock, with the share price falling from a high of $1.39 on 21 Aug to $1.10 by 13 Oct.

Company Overview

Thor Explorations Ltd (AIM: THX / TSXV: THX) is a West African gold producer and explorer headquartered in Vancouver, led by President and CEO Segun Lawson, who has held the position since August 2011. The company’s sole producing asset and entire revenue base is the 100%-owned Segilola Gold Project in Osun State, Nigeria, which operates as an open-pit mine with a carbon-in-leach (CIL) processing plant.

Beyond its current production, Thor holds a 100% economic interest in the Douta Gold Project in the Kéniéba Inlier of south-eastern Senegal, with a 10% free-carried interest expected for the State of Senegal. The project has completed a pre-feasibility study and is in the advanced development stage prior to a final investment decision. The company also maintains 100% interest in the early-stage Guitry and Marahui Projects in Côte d'Ivoire, where exploration activities include geochemical sampling, auger, and reverse circulation (RC) drilling. Additional tenure is wholly and majority-owned in Nigeria, Senegal (Bousankhoba), and Côte d'Ivoire.

While Thor’s stated strategy is to become a "multi-asset, multi-jurisdictional gold producer" via the Douta project, it currently operates as a single-mine, single-jurisdiction producer facing a depleting reserve and a falling grade profile.
