Oroco Drills 234.6 metres of 0.52% CuEq at Santo Tomas

Executive Summary

Oroco Resource Corp. has released the fifth batch of Phase 2 assay results from ten holes (S045–S056) in the South Zone of its Santo Tomás porphyry copper project in Choix, Sinaloa, Mexico.

Key intercepts from the new assays include:

  • S045: 234.6 m @ 0.43% Cu (0.52% CuEq) from 174.1 m; plus 23.2 m @ 0.25% Cu (0.28% CuEq) from 411.3 m.
  • S046: 128.0 m @ 0.36% Cu (0.48% CuEq) from surface; plus 26.0 m @ 0.31% Cu (0.43% CuEq) from 351.0 m and 14.1 m @ 0.23% Cu (0.30% CuEq) from 387.0 m (below PEA pit).
  • S049: 86.1 m @ 0.51% Cu (0.60% CuEq) from 85.5 m; other intervals 51.9 m @ 0.20% Cu, 131.7 m @ 0.37% Cu, 17.8 m @ 0.26%, 14.5 m @ 0.29%.
  • S051: 102.3 m @ 0.46% Cu (CuSol 0.04%) from 35.0 m — no CuEq quoted (oxide-bearing).
  • S053: 84.2 m @ 0.50% Cu (0.58% CuEq) from 159.6 m; plus 143.4 m @ 0.31%, 43.8 m @ 0.29%, 126.7 m @ 0.30%.
  • S056: 95.4 m @ 0.29% Cu (0.38% CuEq) from 40.6 m.
  • S047: 58.7 m @ 0.24% Cu (weakening east); S048: 70 m @ 0.33% Cu plus two lower intervals.
  • S050 (carbonate-hosted, not a CuEq interval): 6.0 m @ 4.18% Zn, 1.71% Pb, 75 g/t Ag, 0.35 g/t Au, 0.48% Cu from 36.0 m; no processing route planned.

Phase 2 South Zone resource drilling is now complete, comprising 50 holes totaling 15,263.2 m. Assays remain pending for holes S052, S052A, S054, and (Pillar) S066. Oroco targets an updated mineral resource estimate (MRE) for Q1 2027, with a preliminary feasibility study (PFS) scheduled for Q2/Q3 2027.

Material Impact

Oroco Resource Corp. (OCO) has released a fifth consecutive batch of drill results from its South Zone, reinforcing grade continuity and block-model reliability ahead of a planned resource model upgrade. The company aims to convert Inferred resources to Indicated status in its Q1 2027 Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE). These results do not expand the known system or introduce a new zone with quantified grade.

The stock is currently trading at $0.46, positioning it mid-range between the $0.27 low in December and the $0.83 spike in January. The share price has effectively round-tripped since its August peak. Previous price movements, including the January run to $0.83 and the late-August move to $0.54, were not driven by Phase 2 infill results. Releases from Phase 2 on May 21, Jun 18, Aug 6, and Sep 10 coincided with flat-to-lower prices. Because these are infill holes, the results matched the existing resource grade rather than introducing new data that would alter the valuation anchor.

Oroco Resource Corp. is a developer with a completed Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) showing an NPV₈% of US$1.48B, an IRR of 22.2%, a 22.6-year mine life, and a production rate increasing from 60 to 120 ktpd. As a developer with an existing resource, drill confirmations are routine operations and rarely impact the stock price.

Company Overview

Oroco Resource Corp. (TSXV: OCO; OTCQB: ORRCF) is a Vancouver-based developer of the Santo Tomás porphyry copper project located in Choix, Sinaloa, Mexico. The company holds an net 88.5% interest in the 1,173-hectare Core Concessions and an 80% interest in surrounding concessions. It also has an option to acquire 100% of the 2,973.7-hectare Vainilla concession, subject to TSXV approval. The Vainilla concession is located approximately 17 kilometers south of the Santo Tomás South Zone and about 8 kilometers east of Choix.

According to an August 2024 mineral resource estimate by SRK, the project contains an Indicated resource of 540.6 million tonnes grading 0.33% copper (0.37% copper equivalent) and an Inferred resource of 530.3 million tonnes grading 0.31% copper (0.35% copper equivalent). The South Zone sulphide Inferred resource totals 399.2 million tonnes. Oxide material, comprising 36.7 million tonnes in the South Zone and 4.4 million tonnes in the North Zone, was excluded from the Inferred category due to unproven recovery.

A preliminary economic assessment conducted in August 2024 by Ausenco outlines a staged open-pit operation scaling from 60,000 to 120,000 tonnes per day over a 22.6-year life of mine. The project requires an initial capital expenditure of US$1.103 billion, yielding an after-tax net present value at an 8% discount rate of US$1.48 billion and an internal rate of return of 22.2%. Life-of-mine C1 cash costs are estimated at US$1.54 per pound of copper on a by-product basis, with production utilizing conventional flotation concentrate.

Infrastructure access is supported by the project’s location within approximately 170 kilometers of the deep-water Port of Topolobampo, with highway and rail connections available via Los Mochis–Choix. The site is included in Plan México and the Topolobampo Economic Hub.

As of May 2026, Oroco has 325,954,143 shares outstanding, with a fully diluted count of approximately 391.2 million shares. The company closed a C$23 million bought deal in January 2026, issuing 60.5 million units at C$0.38 each, along with warrants exercisable at C$0.53 until 2029.
