Edge Copper Reports Broad Oxide Intercepts at Zonia and Confirms Mineralization Beyond Previously Interpreted Boundaries
Edge reports on-model Zonia oxide hits, though the boundary-break claim currently carries no tonnes.

Edge Copper Corporation (EDCU) has reported eight additional diamond drill holes from its Zonia program, bringing the total number of reported holes to 53. The company stated that the results will feed into a Q4 2026 Mineral Resource estimate.
The latest intercepts include:
- ZND0045: 475 ft @ 0.25% CuT from surface (0 ft), including 160 ft @ 0.30% CuT from 70 ft, 30 ft @ 0.32% CuT from 280 ft, and 35 ft @ 0.36% CuT from 380 ft.
- ZND0063: 277 ft @ 0.33% CuT from surface (0 ft).
- ZND0055: 345 ft @ 0.25% CuT from 480 ft, including 210 ft @ 0.30% CuT from 605 ft; separate 33 ft @ 0.19% CuT from 860 ft.
- ZND0036: 401 ft @ 0.18% CuT from 54 ft.
- ZND0025: 391 ft @ 0.21% CuT from 229 ft.
- ZND0047: 373 ft @ 0.23% CuT from 2 ft, including 31 ft @ 0.40% CuT from 2 ft.
- ZND0053: 233 ft @ 0.15% CuT from 406 ft.
- ZND0056: 116 ft @ 0.17% CuT from surface.
Edge Copper now states that mineralization crosses both the western lithologic contact and the eastern fault, which were previously treated as possible boundaries. The company indicated that neither feature should be viewed as a hard limit.
Analyses were conducted by Skyline Assayers and Laboratories in Tucson using a three-acid digest and AAS for total copper, with a stated cutoff of 0.10% CuT. Quality assurance and control were maintained through CRMs, blanks, and duplicates. Patrick B. Redmond, Ph.D., P.Geo., served as the Qualified Person. The reported intervals are claimed to represent approximate true thicknesses.
Edge Copper Corporation (EDCU) is a developer and explorer with a completed Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) that shows an after-tax net present value (NPV) of US$488 million in the base case at US$4.60/lb copper, rising to US$1.07 billion at US$5.98/lb. The company’s market capitalization stands at roughly C$80 million, based on a share price of C$0.48. While the equity is small relative to the study’s NPV, suggesting that a genuine scale change would be material, this release does not quantify any such scale.
The drilling program focused overwhelmingly on infill and resource conversion, along with a northwest perimeter step-out. For infill holes, the primary metric is resource grade rather than headline intercepts. The batch returned grades of 0.25-0.33% CuT over lengths of 71-145 meters, confirming the resource grade. This outcome aligns with what the market has already priced in for this program.
The strongest prior intercept on the same deposit was ZND0032, which reported 287 ft @ 0.73% CuT, including 190 ft @ 1.01%, published on 2026-08-26. That result is not embedded in the current valuation; the stock closed at C$0.54 on 2026-08-25 and C$0.55 on 2026-08-27, peaked at C$0.59 on 2026-08-31, and has since round-tripped to C$0.48, a level below where it traded prior to that release. The market is not paying for repetition. Consequently, a weaker batch is considered in-line to soft, and nothing here is materially better in grade-and-width substance than what has already been demonstrated.
What is genuinely new is the assertion that the western lithologic contact and eastern fault are not hard limits, which would enlarge the prospective footprint. This serves as a real modeling input for the Q4 2026 Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) and the company’s internal ~50% resource-growth objective. However, it is unquantified, untonnaged, and rests on interpretation plus visual oxide picking, meaning it cannot be capitalized today.
In prior-period context, not included in this release, Edge Copper Corporation reported a H1 2026 net loss of US$12.4 million on US$10.9 million of exploration and evaluation spend. The company held US$14.8 million in cash as of 2026-06-30 and faces an explicit going-concern material uncertainty. There are approximately 23.1 million warrants outstanding, issued in October 2025 with a C$0.60 strike price and an ~18-month term. Additionally, the four-month hold period for the June 2026 private placement expires on 2026-10-09, two days after this release. Dilution, rather than drilling, remains the dominant swing factor for this equity.
Edge Copper Corporation (TSX: EDCU), formerly Plata Latina Minerals Corp., completed a 1:3 share consolidation and renamed itself following the acquisition of World Copper Ltd.’s Zonia Copper Project. The transaction, announced between October 30 and November 3, 2025, involved US$10.5M in cash and approximately 37.8M post-consolidation shares transferred to World Copper.
The company’s single asset is the 100%-owned Zonia Copper Project, located in Yavapai County, Arizona, within the historic Walnut Grove district. The site was a past-producing heap-leach SX-EW operation on patented and private claims, featuring existing road, water, and powerline infrastructure that shortens permitting timelines compared to federal land. Production involves open-pit mining, heap leaching, and solvent extraction/electrowinning to produce Grade A copper cathode, bypassing concentrate marketing.
A January 2026 mineral resource estimate, based on historical drilling and excluding the 2026 program, identified 194 Mt at 0.25% Cu (964 Mlb) in the Indicated category and 86 Mt at 0.20% Cu (341 Mlb) in the Inferred category. This totals approximately 280 Mt at ~0.24% Cu for roughly 1,305 Mlb contained copper.
A March 2026 preliminary economic assessment (PEA) modeled a base case at US$4.60/lb Cu, projecting an after-tax NPV8 of US$488M, an IRR of 23.4%, and US$985M in free cash flow over a 10-year life. The plan calls for an average production of 76 Mlb/yr of cathode, a 0.60 strip ratio, 72.8% recovery, and C1 costs of US$2.15/lb against AIC of US$2.47/lb, with initial capital of approximately US$525M. A spot case scenario at US$5.98/lb plus a US$0.04/lb domestic cathode premium yields an NPV8 of US$1.07B and an IRR of 40.9%. A pre-feasibility study (PFS) is targeted for mid-2027.
The 2026 exploration program involves approximately 54,000 ft across ~78 holes using two diamond rigs, incorporating GeologicAI core scanning and AI-assisted drill-spacing optimization. Fifty-three holes have been reported to date.
According to an investor presentation from August/September 2026, Edge Copper has a capital structure of 167.4M basic shares, 3.9M options, 23.1M warrants, and 3.5M RSUs. The company held approximately US$15M in cash as of June 30, 2026, with no debt. Top holders include Gil Clausen (~16%), GeologicAI (~10%), Bob Kopple (~7%), and Letitia Wong (~4%). Management is led by Chair/CEO Gil Clausen, President Letitia Wong, COO Kyle Lindahl, and geology consultant Patrick Redmond.
Much of the PEA economics and resource figures rely on historical drilling, historical recovery assumptions, and Inferred material that cannot be categorized as reserves. The study remains preliminary.
