Carolina Rush, Oceanagold's Brewer agreement terminated
OceanaGold retains 100% of the Brewer project after terminating a $6 million earn-in agreement with Carolina Rush.

OceanaGold Corporation has terminated its earn-in agreement with Carolina Rush Corp. for the Brewer gold-copper project in New Zealand. The company had previously financed approximately $2 million USD in exploration; terminating the deal foregoes the opportunity to earn a 50% interest by spending an additional approximately $6 million USD. OceanaGold retains 100% interest and operational control of the project.
The release highlights 2026 drilling results from holes 37, 38, and 39, which strengthened the geological model for a porphyry copper-gold system and identified two priority deep holes for future drilling. The option agreement has been amended to remove the cash payment at closing and spread payments over 10 years, beginning once new mining operations are permitted. The adjacent Jefferson project has been expanded to approximately 2,568 acres, creating a contiguous 3,480-acre land position.
OceanaGold Corporation released a non-earnings corporate and exploration update, announcing the termination of a $6 million earn-in for a greenfield, early-stage project. The company stated that retaining a 100% interest is standard corporate housekeeping and aligns with management's focus on capital discipline.
The move has no material impact on near-term production, costs, or net asset value. It does not alter core operational guidance, balance sheet strength, or the pending Ausgold acquisition. Following the announcement, the stock has consolidated in the $39-$43 range post-earnings, indicating a muted market reaction.
OceanaGold Corporation operates four producing gold mines: Haile in the USA (100%), Macraes in New Zealand (100%), Waihi in New Zealand (100%), and Didipio in the Philippines (80% attributable). The company is expanding its portfolio with the pending acquisition of Ausgold's Katanning project in Western Australia, which is expected to reach first production in 2029.
Exploration and earn-in targets include Headwater Gold in Nevada, Carolina Rush in South Carolina, TJ/Jake Creek in New Zealand, Brewer in New Zealand, and Manhulayan in the Philippines. OceanaGold successfully listed on the NYSE in April 2026 under ticker OGC, enhancing liquidity and U.S. investor access.
