Scandium enters MOU with Granges Powder

Mr. Guy Bourassa reports SCANDIUM CANADA ADVANCES STRATEGIC PLAN FOR COMMERCIALIZATION OF PROPRIETARY ALLOYS Scandium Canada Ltd. has updated shareholders on the commercialization efforts of its patent-pending aluminum-scandium alloys through its division, Scandium+. The company has entered into a memorandum of understanding with Granges Powder Metallurgy, a global supplier of spray-formed aluminum products and aluminum powders for additive manufacturing, specializing in high performance aluminum alloys. Under this MOU, Scandium Canada and GPM will explore integrating Scandium Canada's proprietary scandium-modified AA535 and AA7075 alloys into GPM's product offering. "Scandium Canada's proprietary alloys directly address the critical need for printable, high-strength and lightweight metals in sectors such as aerospace, automotive and advanced manufacturing. This advancement is expected to accelerate the adoption of lightweight structures in critical applications, supporting global efforts toward sustainability, energy efficiency and improved engineering design. The GPM MOU is testimony to our efforts to co-operate at different levels of the scandium value chain to accelerate the uptake of our alloys," commented Dr. Luc Duchesne, head of Scandium+ division and chief science officer. The company has also received Productique Quebec's report on its analysis of the best-case uses of its patent-pending aluminum-scandium alloys. Considering the main attributes of Scandium Canada's Al-Sc powders, namely reduced scandium content, a broad processing window, suitable mechanical properties and minimized defect density, the Productique study identified 13 target alloy applications for specific industrial users, including welding wires, aircraft ducting and heat exchangers. Each of the 13 applications is attached to particular commercial stakeholders that could benefit from Scandium Canada's alloys. Building on the report's findings, Scandium Canada is expanding its outreach to industrial end-users across key market segments. These efforts represent a significant step in translating the company's technical advancements into real-world commercial adoption. In addition, Scandium Canada has secured in-kind support from Canada's industrial research assistance program to collaborate with experts from the additive manufacturing division of the National Research Council of Canada. This partnership will focus on identifying new commercial applications and pathways for the company's innovative alloys. Filing of a new international patent application Scandium Canada's two proprietary alloys and their method of fabrication were developed and tested in collaboration with McMaster University and are protected by a newly filed international patent application under the Patent Cooperation Treaty, filed on Sept. 17, 2025.
